"The longer I am a scientist," says Brown University's Hermon C. Bumpus Professor of Biology and Data Science and Professor of Computer Science Sohini Ramachandran, "the more I see it as an infinite game. A finite game is where there's a winner and a loser, and at some point, it ends. [In] an infinite game, you want to play to keep playing."
In a new Then and Now story, The Scientist follows up with Sohini fifteen years after they first interviewed her, asking about her lab's latest work determining the causes and consequences of human genetic variation, using population genetics, statistics, and evolutionary theory.
